Inclement Weather

During adverse weather conditions, district officials will assess weather conditions and the impact of that weather on the safety of students and staff members. After deciding that Inclement Weather may make it difficult to continue campus operations, the announcement will be made through the following methods:

  • On the District and/or Campus websites
  • Through ParentSquare using automated notification by phone, text, and email to parents and staff
  • District social media accounts
  • Local television stations including:
    • ABC DFW (Channel 8)
    • CBS DFW (Channel 11)
    • Fox DFW (Channel 4)
    • NBC DFW/Telemundo (Channels 5 and 39)
*Media outlets typically only inform viewers and listeners of those school districts that are either starting late or canceling school.
**If no information is given, all Trinity Basin Preparatory Campuses will start at their regular time on a regular schedule.

Criteria for Closure

Trinity Basin Preparatory understands that many parents work outside the home, and arranging childcare isn't always easy. We also know how difficult it can be to reschedule events and practices or make up lost time in the classroom. Thus, when our campuses face a threat of inclement weather, numerous factors are considered when making the decision to delay or cancel classes. These factors include:

  • The safety of students, staff, and parents
  • The safe transportation of students to school and back home
  • The disruptions caused at home, in the classroom, and for after-school activities

Additional Resources

Bundling up and staying dry are two of the best things you can do to stay safe from cold temperatures this fall and winter. Layers are the key to keeping children warm and dry. On the coldest days, start with a base layer, add a fleece or sweater, and top with a wind-resistant and water-resistant jacket. If you need assistance with cold weather clothing, reach out to your Campus Counselor.
