Assessment & Accountability
MAP Growth (Measures of Academic Progress) - A Parent's Guide
Many parents are used to tests their students take after they learn a certain amount of material in the classroom. MAP Growth is a different form of assessment in that it is a computer adaptive test, which means every student sees a unique set of questions based on responses to previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions get harder. If the student answers incorrectly, the next question is easier. Consequently, students will see questions over material they have not yet learned and that is OK. The student is not penalized for this as the assessment is being used to tell us what the student knows and does not know.
