The Charter School Advantage

WHAT IS A CHARTER SCHOOL?

A charter school is a tuition-free school of choice that is publicly funded and operates separately from the traditional independent school district (ISD). Parents have a choice to send their children to a school like Trinity Basin Preparatory, where we are devoted to providing the care that leads to lasting student success. We teach the same academic standards as all public schools in the state of Texas do. Our mission is to provide a learning environment where students do more, expect more, and be more.

CHARTER SCHOOLS HAVE:

More Freedom
Charter Schools have more freedom to innovate and teach in the way that is best for students.

Greater Accountability
Charter Schools must meet the same standards as all public schools in Texas and the TEA has the authority to revoke a charter if it doesn’t perform well.

Less Bureaucracy
Charter Schools tend to be more nimble so that they are better at meeting the needs of each student.

Fiscal Responsibility
Without any taxing authority, Charter Schools must do more with the funds that they receive from the state.

HOW DOES TRINITY BASIN PREPARATORY COMPARE?

Trinity Basin Preparatory Overall Accountability Rating Compared to Other Districts

The Texas Education Agency provides annual academic accountability ratings to all public schools, including public charter schools. The ratings are based on performance on state standardized tests; graduation rates; and college, career, and military readiness outcomes. The ratings examine student achievement, school progress, and whether districts and campuses are closing achievement gaps among various student groups.

Parents and students are the reason that we exist. Parents choose TBP because we care about their child’s academic success and every day we strive to do more for our students. Unlike a traditional ISD, parents have a voice, and we want to hear it!
